Placing a Student in the Honors Spanish Program

At PCKCS we offer honors Spanish classes in sixth 1B, seventh 1B and 8th Spanish 2.

Students will be placed in honors classes based upon teacher recommendation and academic performance. Most of the criteria should be met before considering a student in the Honors Spanish program at any level:

A curiosity for learning about other cultures and perspectives.
A fast grasp of new Spanish concepts.
The ability and desire to keep a sustained fast-paced learning in Spanish.
School attendance is high - very few absences.
Organizational skills should be evident in all subjects.
Reliability and consistency in homework for all subjects.
The desire and ability to apply the language in and outside of the classroom.
Consistently high test scores.
A wide range of communication abilities in Spanish: writing, reading, speaking and listening comprehension.
A love for expressing ideas and communicating in Spanish, even if there are mistakes!
