Spanish 2
High School level class
I am very excited to have your students in my class, and I hope this will be a rewarding and fun year for them. Your students will be learning a very high level of foreign language, and I expect it will also be a challenging year for them.
Eighth grade students that pass this class and demonstrates that manages the concepts during the year will be placed in Spanish III level in High School, having earned credit for two full years of foreign language, needing only one year to complete their college entrance requirement for Foreign Language. Be aware that the grade you receive in this class will appear on your high school transcript. Because of that the grading scale that Spanish 2 has is the same as the Douglas County High Schools use (dcsd 0-10).
Spanish 2 is not an easy class, approximately 70% of our students will be able to continue into Spanish III, the remaining 30% will benefit from repeating the class and mastering the concepts taught before proceeding any further. Please encourage your student to study vocabulary and review grammar every night, to seek the teacher out if grammar use is not clear, and to commit to the learning process. Foreign Language classes taken and passed at the middle school level are of great benefit during the student’s High School career, where they will reap the benefits of their middle school dedication. We are proud of the fact that many Core Knowledge students have gone on to the Spanish Honor Society in High School, pursuing the language all the way to level 5, and in college!
I invite you to visit us anytime during class, please let the office know when you plan to drop by. Feel free to call or e-mail me at school at anytime, I will get back to you within 24 hours.
